India: SECL Remains the Largest Coal Producing Subsidiary of CIL in FY19

South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) once again stands tall amongst all the subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. During FY19, SECL has produced 157.35 MnT of coal. There was an overall growth of 8.73% over last fiscal's output of 144.71 MnT.
With this coal production figures, SECL has retained its No.1 position in terms of coal production. The second largest coal producing subsidiary was around 13 MnT and third was 55 MnT behind.
SECL has scaled new heights on the parameter of offtake too, registering a year on year growth of 3.3%, while dispatching 156 MnT of coal. This was the highest coal dispatch ever in the history of SECL. On this parameter also, SECL is the No.1 Company amongst all subsidiaries of CIL.
Besides, the company has removed 183.9 Million Cubic Meters of Over Burden, which was highest in CIL.
Under the leadership of Mr A P Panda, CMD, SECL, the company has fared well in every sphere.
Several records were created and broken during the year. SECL mining areas like Gevra, Dipka, Kusmunda, Sohagpur, etc have produced the highest ever coal since the inception of SECL.
Gevra produced 42.25 MnT, Dipka produced 35 MnT and Kusmunda produced 40 MnT of coal, their highest ever.
The total coal production from Korba Coalfields which includs the Korba, Gevra, Dipka, Raigarh-Mand and Kusmunda area, was 134.21 MnT; Whereas the CIC field (including Sohagpur, Bhatgaon and 6 other areas) produced 23.13 MnT of coal.
Along with coal production, the company also focused on the quality aspect of coal.
Ensuring quality coal to the end users, SECL has posted 12.6% Y-o-Y growth in dispatch of coal to power houses during the current financial year. It was ensured that all the power houses linked to SECL have sufficient coal stock and none of them are now in critical coal stock position.
Recently on 20 Mar'19, SECL became the first single largest company in India to produce more than 150 MnT of coal during a financial year.
On 29 Mar'19, SECL created a new record in single day dispatch. On the day, 5.73 Lac Tonnes of coal was dispatched. This was highest ever single day dispatch since formation of the company.
Commenting on the achievement Mr. A P Panda said that, "SECL faces challenges valiantly and fearlessly dominates them. It is the hard Work, determination and ability to stick to job even during difficult times that has spelt success for SECL."
SECL has been the largest coal producing subsidiary of CIL since its inception. It contributes to around 25% of the total coal production of CIL. The company has registered an impressive Y-o-Y growth each year.
