India: Punjab Govt. Announces Relief Measures on Electricity Charges for Steel Mills

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is the electricity generating and distributing company of Punjab Govt, has announced relief on electricity bills for industrial consumers today, according to the SteelMint's market participants.

Following are the fresh announcement -

-- The bill payment due date has extended till 20th Apr'20 for the month of Mar'20 (which has to be paid on or after Mar 20th) without levy of late payment surcharge.

-- Moreover, a rebate of 1% will be given (exclusive of any previous arrears) on the current bills if the payment is made by original due date through online/any digital mode.

-- In addition to that fixed charges on electricity bills for Medium Supply (MS) & Large Supply (LS) industrial consumers are going to be exempted for next two months from 23rd Mar'20 during lockdown period.

This step has been taken keeping a view of the hardship being faced by industries throughout the state in order to relieve their financial burden and to control the spread of COVID-19 pandemic due to which the industries have been badly hit in this unprecedented situation.

Punjab is the one of the major hubs of small & medium scale steel mills which produces a variety of finished goods products. There are over 300 steel mills in Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab.

Goa govt defers due date for electricity bill payment

In the view of lock-down, the electricity department, govt of Goa has notified that the due date of electricity bill generated and issued to all HT consumers in the month of Apr'20 is extended upto 15th May'20. Also due date the electricity bill generated and issued to all LT consumers in the month of Apr'20 is extended upto 20th May'20.
