The Odisha Group of Mines of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has created a host of new records in both production as well as dispatches of iron ore lumps and fines in the first half (H1) of the current financial year 2021-22.
By registering iron ore lump production of 2.45 mn t and iron ore lump dispatches of 2.453 mn t in the Apr-Sep'21 period, the Odisha Group of Mines has clocked their best-ever performance for any half-year of a fiscal.
The Odisha group of mines also surpassed their previous H1 bests in iron ore fines production and iron ore fines dispatch. In H1 of the current financial year, iron ore fines production touched 4.30 mn t, while iron ore fines dispatches have been recorded at 4.15 mn t.
Subsequently, the total production from the group of mines was to the tune of 6.76 mn t, while total dispatches were at 6.70 mn t - the highest-ever for any H1.
Mine-wise output
The individual mines among the Odisha group of mines have shown significant growth in their H1 performance for FY 2021-22.
Bolani Ores Mines (BOM) has recorded a growth of 27.7% over H1 of FY'21 and a growth of 23.7% in dispatches of iron ore. A significant improvement of 86.7% in production and 86.1% in dispatches of iron ore were recorded by the Taldih Ores Mines (TIM).
Barsua Iron Mine (BIM) recorded 33% growth in production and 29.5% increase in dispatches. Production of iron ore from the Kalta Iron Mine (KIM) increased by 19.1% and dispatches by 23.3% compared to the corresponding period of last year.
