India: Pellet Exports Increase by 12% in May'17

Indian pellet exports have grown by 12% in May'17 with 0.55 MnT pellets exported against 0.49 MnT exports in Apr'17.
The exports were up 145% Y-o-Y for the month of May compared to the quantity of 0.23 MnT in May'16. There was an increase of 211% Y-o-Y for the first two month of FY18 with the quantity of 1.05 MnT pellets exported compared to the same period previous fiscal at 0.34 MnT pellets.
BRPL was the largest pellet exporter in May'17. Rising demand of Indian pellets in China along with an increase in spot pellet premium have pushed its export last month. Iron ore exports from India have more than doubled in May'17 compared Apr'17.East India pellet makers continue to export pellets to China: East Coast pellet exporters continue to export pellets to China. Paradip 0.32 MnT with 57% share of total exports, Dhamra with 0.27 MnT material with 23% share followed by Kandla with 0.06 MnT with 10% share, Mangalore and Haldia were the chief exporting ports. China is still the largest destination for Indian pellets exports.
BRPL exported 0.16 MnT in May'17: BRPL- exported 0.16 MnT pellets during in May'17. The pellet maker exported only 54,350 MT in May'16.
JSPL- Exported 2.29 MnT in FY17: Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) has exported 0.15 MnT pellets in May17 JSPL pellet exports were at 56,500 MT in May'16.
Essar Steel, has exported 0.07 MnT followed by Jindal Saw (0.06 MnT), Bagadiya Brothers (0.05 MnT) and KIOCL (0.05 MnT).
China- the largest export destination from India: India exported 0.22 MnT iron ore to China which consists of around 39% share of total pellet exports from India in the month of May'17. The other countries material was exported to are Oman around 19%, South Korea 19%, Japan 13% and UAE 10%.India Pellet Imports: There were no pellet imports from Indian buyers for the current fiscal.
