India: OMC Completes Public Hearing on EC Enhancement at Daitari & Koira Mines

State-owned miner - Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has completed public hearing for capacity enhancement for both Daitari and Koira mines, SteelMint learned from market sources. Also, the EC enhancement is in the process of approval. EC limit at Daitari mines is proposed to be increased to 6 Mnt pa from current EC of 3 Mnt pa. On similar lines, EC limit at OMC's Kurmitar mines is proposed to be increased from current 2.4 MnT pa to 6 MnT pa.

In FY20 (till Sept'19), OMC's iron ore output stood at around 5.22 MnT.

Earlier SteelMint reported that OMC is planning to achieve 20 MnT iron ore output by FY21 through expansion.

Odisha is India's largest iron ore producing state and accounts for nearly 50% of the country's iron ore production. In the current fiscal year Odisha iron ore production till Nov'19 increased by 31% to 88.47 MnT as against 67.44 MnT in the last fiscal year (FY'19) in the same timeframe (Apr-Nov'18).
