India: Odisha merchant iron ore dispatches majorly stable in July

Odisha- India's largest iron ore producing state recorded total merchant iron ore dispatches at 4.55 mn t in July'20, mostly stable as against 4.20 mn t in June 20. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of miners- SAIL & Tata Steel. The dispatches picked up amid easing lock down measures and adequate old stocks at mines head.
- Rungta Mines recorded the highest dispatches of iron ore at 1.15 mn t in July'20, up 46% as against 0.79 mn t in June'20.
- OMC, state-owned miner, recorded a slight rise in dispatches to 0.78 mn t for the month as against 0.76 mn t in the last month (June'20).
- Serajuddin mines dispatches recorded 32% rise on a monthly basis to 0.48 mn t in July'20 as compared to 0.36 mn t in June'20. RP Sao dispatches dropped 7% for the month to 0.35 mn t in July'20.
- Sarda Mines dispatches stood at 0.24 mn t, down 8% m-o-m against 0.27 mn t in June'20. The Supreme Court as on 30th Jan 2020 allowed Sarda mines to resume operations. Apex court allowed the condition to pay dues towards environmental compensation to the Odisha Govt. by 29 Feb'20. The Honorable court also made it clear that JSPL can transport iron ore lying at Sarda mines.
