India: Odisha Iron Ore Production Up 4% Y-o-Y in Apr'17

India's iron ore output observed radical increase last fiscal and grew from 155.9 MnT in FY16 to 190 MnT in FY17. Significant surge in output from states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Goa resulted in sharp hike.
Notably Odisha is India's largest iron ore producing state and contributes nearly 50% share in country's ore output. The state produced 94.17 MnT iron ore in FY17.
Odisha's iron ore production has moved up by 4% Y-o-Y from 8.75 MnT in Apr'16 to 9.06 MnT in Apr'17.
However on monthly premises, state's iron ore production has witnessed marginal increase from 9.04 MnT in Mar'17.
Rungta Mines - Odisha's largest iron ore producer registered output of 2.12 MnT in Apr'17, down 5% M-o-M. Other major merchant iron ore producers were Serajuddin Mines - 1.1 MnT (down 8% M-o-M) and KJS Ahluwalia - 0.71 MnT.
State-owned miner - Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) produced 0.68 MnT iron ore in previous month compared to 0.32 MnT in Mar'17.
Tata Steel's iron ore production from Odisha stood at 1.05 MnT in Apr'17 and that of SAIL moved was recorded at 0.56 MnT.
