India: Odisha Govt Invites Bid for RP Sao Guali Iron Ore Mine

Odisha govt has recently invited bids for grant of Guali iron ore mining lease having EC of 5.7 MnT pa. Under Section 10 (B) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and in accordance with the amended mineral (auction) Rules, 2015. Government of Odisha has identified 2 (two) Minerals Blocks for electronic auction and hereby invites tenders for the purposes of grant of Mining Lease. One mineral block is of iron ore (Guali iron ore) and another of Chromite ore (Sukinda chromite ore).
Last date for purchase of Tender Document after payment of a tender fee on website of e-auction platform provider is Saturday, 15th Feb'20 and the last date for submission of the bid is Thursday, 20 Feb'20 on or before 12:00 noon (IST).

Earlier towards early Dec'19 Ministry of Mines, Govt of India had notified Odisha Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (OMECL) as a separate legal entity to undertake operations of R P Sao mines (Guali) Iron Ore Block in pursuance of the second proviso to sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
The mine auctions in Odisha is ongoing. Out of 20 iron ore and manganese ore mines put up for auction, 18 mines were containing iron ore deposits. The bid due date was 03 Jan'20. According to market sources report to SteelMint, nearly 86 companies have aggressively participated in the auctions.
