India: NMDC Iron Ore Rake Movement Falls 23% in Jun'19

NMDC supplied total of 310 rakes (1.19 MnT) of iron ore in the month of Jun'19, down 23% against 400 rakes (1.54 MnT) a month before in May'19, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint. Iron ore production and sales at NMDC Chhattisgarh was halted at Kirandul on 7th June and at Bacheli on 11th June amid agitation from locals against mining in Deposit 13 which is supposed to house their deity. However later, the operations resumed on 13th June'19. It seems drop in rake movement could be because of similar reason.
NMDC supplied 37 rakes (0.14 MnT) to state based units in Jun'19, down 34% against 56 rakes (0.22 MnT) a month before.
Central India's domestic sponge and billet prices plunged amid weak market fundamentals. Sponge prices were down to all-time low in the month of Jun'19.
NMDC's supply to outside state based units fell 23%
The procurement by units outside C.G also witnessed a decline of 23% on monthly basis to 226 rakes (0.87MnT) in Jun'19 as against 295 rakes (1.13 MnT) in May'19.
JSW Steel (Dolvi) sourcing from NMDC recorded at 28 rakes in Jun'19, against 50 rakes a month before.
RINL procurement from NMDC Bailadila mines in Jun'19 down 8% on monthly basis to 146 rakes as compared to May'19 procurement at 182 rakes.
KIOCL procured 34 rakes in Jun'19 compared to 46 iron ore rakes from NMDC in May'19.
Movement for exports fall 4% in Jun'19-:
NMDC's movement of iron ore export for the month of Jun'19 witnessed 4% declined to 47 rakes as compared to 49 rakes in May'19.
