India: NMDC iron ore production up 37%; sales up 31% in Nov'20

India's largest iron ore producer - NMDC recorded a rise in iron ore production by 37% to 3.32 mn t in Nov'20 as compared to 2.43 mn t in Oct'20. Output picked 13% on a yearly basis compared to 2.94 mn t in Nov'19.

Out of the total 3.32 mn t, Chhattisgarh mines produced a major chunk of material at 2.65 mn t and Karnataka mines produced 0.67 mn t.

The miner had increased prices twice in the month of Nov'20. The miner yesterday (2nd Dec) announced another price hike of around INR 480-580/t. Company's fines price has hit an all-time high.

NMDC iron ore production for FY21 (Apr-Nov'20) depicted 5% fall to 18 mn t as against 18.9 mn t for FY'20 (Apr-Nov'19).

Sales up by 31% m-o-m in Nov'20

NMDC total iron ore sales for the month of Nov'20 recorded at 3.30 mn t, up 31% against 2.52 mn t in Oct'20. On a yearly basis, output picked up by 18% compared to 2.79 mn t in Nov'19.

Chhattisgarh mines contributed 2.64 mn t output for the month (up 29% m-o-m) and Karnataka mines at 0.66 mn t (up 38% on monthly basis).

The total iron ore sales for FY21 (Apr-Nov) stands at 18.7 mnt, 6% decline as compared to 19.9 mn t in FY20(Apr-Nov).
