India: NMDC, Chhattisgarh Iron Ore Rake Movement Up 35% in Jan'18

1. NMDC iron ore supplies to Chhattisgarh based units increased marginally by 3%.
2. Outside state-based units sourcing from NMDC increased by 38%.
3. Movement for exports rose by 68%.
According to rake movement data maintained with SteelMint, India's largest iron ore miner, NMDC supplied 413 rakes of iron ore from Chhattisgarh based mines in Jan'18, an increase of 35% as against supply of 307 rakes in Dec'17.NMDC Chhattisgarh increased iron ore prices up to 22% for Jan'18 after increasing prices by 13% in Dec'17.
C.G. based units procurement increased marginally by 3% in Jan'18: There was a marginal increase in procurement of NMDC iron ore by 3% from 60 rakes in Dec'17 to 62 rakes in Jan'18 by units within the state.
Procurement by outside C.G based units increased sharply: The procurement by units outside C.G.increased by 38% to 294 rakes in Jan'18 as against 213 rakes in Dec'17.
RINL increased sourcing from NMDC Bailadila mines by 48% to 196 rakes in Jan'18 as compared to 132 rakes in Dec'17. JSW Steel, Dolvi increased by 150% iron ore procurement from NMDC to 50 rakes in Jan'18 against 20 rakes in Dec'17.
KIOCL loaded 29 iron ore rakes from NMDC in Jan'18, down by 26% M-o-M in Jan'18. Amid hike in steel prices, outside based steel mills raised procurement from NMDC.
Movement for exports increased by 62%: NMDC's movement for exports increased by 68% to 57 rakes in Jan'18 as against 34 rakes in Nov'17. As Seaborne iron ore prices were high and getting the decent realizations increased iron ore export from India.
