India: NMDC (C.G.) Iron Ore Rake Movement Increase 54% in Sep'18

NMDC resumed iron ore exports movement in Sept'18, after a gap of five months.
India's largest iron ore miner - NMDC resumed iron ore rake movement for exports after a gap of five months, as the last movement was observed in Mar'18. The miner moved around 10 rakes for export in Sep'18.
NMDC's LTA (Long term agreement) to export iron ore had expired in 31 Mar'18 owing to which the miner recorded nil exports for a period of five months from Apr'18 to Aug'18. The govt renewed exports agreement for the miner to export iron ore later in April and announced no change in export duty in Jul'18, after which the miner resumed export movement in Sept'18.
NMDC supplied 241 rakes of iron ore in Sep'18, up 54% on monthly basis, against 157 rakes in Aug'18. In the beginning of Sep'18, the miner had raised prices by INR 150-370/MT.
Procurement by C.G. based unit's up more than two folds in Sep'18
Procurement of NMDC iron ore by Chhattisgarh based units increased significantly to 44 rakes in Sep'18 as against being 18 rakes in Aug'18. State based sponge manufacturers resumed active purchases from NMDC, however its lower than the average purchases of 60-70 rakes per month.
Procurement by outside C.G. based units increased 35%
The procurement by units outside C.G has witnessed rise of 35% M-o-M to 187 rakes in Sep'18 as against 139 rakes in Aug'18.
JSW Steel (Dolvi) sourcing from NMDC increased to 19 rakes in Sep'18 as against 12 rakes a month before. RINL procurement from NMDC Bailadila mines grew 21% on monthly basis as compared to Aug'18 procurement at 101 rakes.
KIOCL has also increased its sourcing sharply by two folds in Sep'18 to 34 rakes compared to 17 iron ore rakes from NMDC in Aug'18.
