India: MOIL's manganese ore output, sales rise y-o-y in Jan-Sept'21

India's largest manganese ore producer, Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL), released its operational results for the period ended 30 Sept'21 (Jan-Sept'21).

Operational review

• Production up 30%
  During Jan-Sept'21, MOIL produced 5.13 lakh tonnes of different grades of manganese ore (including non-fines and fines manganese ore), up 30% y-o-y against 3.94 lakh tonnes in Jan-Sept'20. MOIL's manganese ore production increased despite Covid-19 restrictions in CY'21.

  The company's non-fines manganese ore output stood at 4.28 lakh tonnes, an increase of 31% y-o-y while the company's fines ore production jumped 24% y-o-y to 0.84 lakh tonnes in the period under review.
  
  

• Sales increase 7% y-o-y
  The company's manganese ore sales volume increased 7% to 5.25 lakh tonnes (including non-fines and fines ore) in Jan-Sept'21 from 4.89 lakh tonnes in Jan-Sept'20. The continuously increasing prices of manganese alloys due to production cuts worldwide in FY'21 pushed up sales.
  The company's non-fines manganese ore sales increased by 5% y-o-y to 4.44 lakh tonnes while fines ore sales were recorded at 0.82 lakh tonnes, up by 24% y-o-y in Jan-Sept'21.
  
  

MOIL is engaged in producing various grades of manganese ore at its 11 mines. Out of these, seven mines are located in Nagpur and Bhandara districts of Maharashtra while the remaining four are in the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh.
