India Met Coke Import Down 30.5% M-o-M in Nov'18, Imports from China and Japan Fall Massively

Indian metallurgical coke imports have recorded a fall of 30.49% to 0.40 million tonnes (MnT) in Nov'18, as compared to 0.57 MnT in Oct'18, as per the vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.
However, on a year-on-year basis, the Nov'18 imports have been fairly close to 0.39 MnT of met coke imports recorded in Nov'17.
On a year-to-date basis, India's met coke imports have totaled 4.61 MnT in the first eleven months of this year, during Jan'18-Nov'18, up 21.64% compared with 3.79 MnT of met coke imports in the corresponding period of the previous year, Jan'17-Nov'17.

Country Wise India Met Coke Import in Nov'18:
A country-wise break-up of the monthly import data reveals that the major proportion of the shipments continued to be originated from China, accounting for 39% share.
However, Indian met coke imports from China fell by nearly 55% M-o-M to 0.15 MnT in Nov'18, against 0.34 MnT in Oct'18.
Following China, Colombia accounted for 18% share of the Indian met coke imports in Nov'18.
Australia and Iran respectively constituted 13% and 8% shares of the Indian met coke imports in Nov'18.
Notably, the Indian met coke imports from Japan reduced by around 65% M-o-M to merely 0.03 MnT in Nov'18, against 0.09 MnT in Oct'18.
Japan has accounted for only 8% share of the Indian met coke imports in Nov'18 as compared to 16% in Oct'18.
