Indian steel major JSW Steel sourced 0.91 million tonnes (mn t) of iron ore from the merchant market in Nov'21. The sourcing plunged by 59% as against 2.25 mn t seen in Oct'21. The figures exclude captive iron ore sourcing.
Purchases from Karnataka e-auctions decline 66% m-o-m
JSW Steel sourced around 0.60 mn t of iron ore from the Karnataka e-auctions in Nov'21, a decline of 66% as against 1.75 mn t in Oct'21.
Out of this, NMDC and Vedanta both supplied 0.12 mn t, each in Nov'21 as compared to 0.72 mn t and 0.59 mn t in Oct'21, respectively. However, NMDC and Vedanta's supply witnessed a sharp 83% and 80% fall, respectively.
Sourcing from NMDC Chhattisgarh drops 42%
JSW Steel's sourcing from NMDC's Chhattisgarh mines fell by 42% in Nov'21 to 0.28 mn t as compared to 0.48 mn t in Oct'21.
Sourcing from Odisha rises two-fold
The steelmaker procured 25,826 tonnes (t) of iron ore from Odisha-based merchant miners in Nov'21, a whopping increase of 103% when compared to 12,730 t in Oct'21. Prakash Industries and SN Mohanty were the key suppliers.
JSW Steel iron ore sourcing in Nov'21 and Oct'21
