India: JSPL's Growth in Domestic Rail Segment

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) has received orders for 2,308 tonnes of 1080 HH grade rail from Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC). An official of the company gave this information. This special rail is used in high speed transportation corridors and all metro rail projects. According to Mr V.R.Sharma, MD of JSPL, the Research Design and Standards Organization (FDSO) under the Ministry of Railways has approved the manufacture and supply of 60 E1 grade and 1080 HH grade head hardened rails. HH grade rails are manufactured using the head hardening technology to bear about 50 per cent higher pressure compared to normal rails. It is learnt that the order will be supplied once the situation stabilizes post lockdown and is busy fulfilling some export orders to countries like Vietnam, Saudi Arab, Thailand and Europe at the moment.
Being a part of USD 25 billion OP Jindal group, JSPL is the only player in India manufacturing head hardened rails JSPL and has presence in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors. The company's rail mill at its Raigarh plant in Chattisgarh has capacity of producing over 30,000 tonne of head hardened rail per month. It aims to achieve 100% capacity utilization of Raigarh rail mill by fiscal-end.
JSPL has also bagged a INR 665 crore order from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) to supply 89,042 tonnes of UIC 60 kg IRS T-12 880 grade 13 meter rails for its upcoming projects.These orders are a clear indication of JSPL's strategic commitment to growing its footprint in the Domestic Rail Segments.
