India: Govt receives 43 bids in 10th tranche of coal mine auctions

Yesterday, the Ministry of Coal opened the bids for the 10th round of commercial coal mine auctions, along with the second attempt for the 8th and 9th rounds. Out of the 61 coal mines offered in the 10th round of auctions, a total of 43 bids were received for 16 mines. Notably, no bids were received for one mine, Radhikapur (East), offered under the second attempt of the 8th round.

A total of 45 bids were submitted online for all three rounds, of which 44 were received in physical form. Key bidders included JSW Energy, JSW Steel, NMDC, JSP, ACC, and NTPC.

These auctions were launched on 21 June 2024, with the bid submission deadline extended twice to allow prospective bidders sufficient time to participate.
