India: Goa govt announces 30th iron ore e-auction

The Goa government will conduct the 30th iron ore e-auction at various locations in the state. The material being auctioned will be in the form of fines, lumps, run-of-mine (ROM), and tailings. The total quantity stands at 756,518 tonnes (t), and the auction will be held on 30 September 2024.

The auction will take place on the Metal Scrap Trade Corporation (MSTC) platform, and the winning bidder will be declared on the same platform by the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG). As per DMG, only end-users and exporters are eligible to participate in the e-auction.

The period for site visits for self-assessment of the quality and quantity of iron ore is 16-23 September 2024.

Meanwhile, the DMG, Government of Goa, has announced the initiation of an e-auction for the grant of mining leases for three iron ore mineral blocks in the state: the Onda Mineral Block-X, located in North Goa, and the Curpem and Sulcorna Mineral Block-XI and the Codli Mineral Block-XII, both situated in South Goa.

This electronic auction is part of Goa's ongoing efforts to manage and regulate its mineral resources efficiently, ensuring transparency and encouraging participation from eligible mining entities.
