India: Evonith Steel all set to light up second blast furnace in Nov'24

Evonith Steel is ready to fire its second blast furnace in the first week of November 2024. This new furnace, with a capacity of 450 cubic metres, will bolster the company's annual crude steel output by approximately 1 million tonne (mnt). Additionally, hot metal capacity will increase to 1.5 mnt per annum.
Merchant pig iron supply will increase
The company is also set to launch a ductile iron (DI) pipe production line by the end of 2025, further expanding its product portfolio. Evonith will have a surplus availability of approximately 350,000 t of pig iron in the merchant market throughout the year, until the production of DI pipes commences.
The company recently held an event in Raipur, in which key executives, including Jai Saraf, the chairman of Evonith Steel, discussed the company's aims to increase its crude steel capacity to 2.5 mnt by 2025 and around 5 mnt by 2030.
