Indian chrome ore dispatches saw a slight 3% m-o-m increase in November 2024 to 200,555 t from 194,091 t in October. Dispatches from Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys (IMFA) and Vedanta-Ferro Alloys Corporation (FACOR) both surged by 31% and 32% m-o-m, respectively.
Meanwhile, Tata Steel's dispatches fell by 38% m-o-m to 20,111 t in November from 32,576 t in October. Dispatch volumes from the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) remained largely stable m-o-m at 76,956 t in November.
Procurement Highlights
IMFA emerged as the largest chrome ore buyer in November, sourcing the entire 54,457 t from its own mines. In the second position was Jindal Stainless, which procured 79% (28,924 t) from OMC and the remaining 21% (7,608 t) from its captive mines. Balasore Alloys ranked third, sourcing the entire 23,268 t from its own captive mines.
