India: Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board Reduces Late Payment Surcharge by 33%

Central India (Raipur) based industry sources stated that, Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) has reduced the late payment surcharge to 1% from 1.5% for three consecutive months.

In addition the CSERC also announced a moratorium on fixed demand charges (FDC) for 3 months (April, May & June) and this will be payable in July month in partial payments.

Earlier, the industrialists were hopeful to get waive off in FDC but the state government only announced a moratorium and some relief in late payment surcharge, as per trade participants.

SteelMint learned that, industrialists are disappointed from this govt step as cost of production is already at high level due to reverse fixed demand rebate charge by state government and also operating minimum capacity utilisation as per government guidelines due to COVID -19 and last but not least workers are very limited which is hampering the current production line.
