India: Cargo Handling at 12 Major Ports Record Marginal Growth in FY'20

As per the official data, cargo handling at the 12 major ports of India recorded around 705 MnT year-on-year growth during the fiscal year FY'20. These ports had handled 699.10 MnT cargo in FY'19. The growth at these ports was driven mainly by higher handling of coal, petroleum and fertilisers.

The above stated 12 major ports of India are - Deendayal (erstwhile Kandla), Mumbai, JNPT, Mormugao, New Mangalore, Cochin, Chennai, Kamarajar (earlier Ennore), V O Chidambaranar, Visakhapatnam, Paradip and Kolkata (including Haldia).

All these ports handle about 60% of the country's total cargo traffic.
