India: Bhushan Steel Iron Ore and Pellet Sourcing Down 12% in Jan'20

Bhushan Steel - a major integrated steelmaker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore & pellet sourcing at 0.37 MnT in Jan'20, down 12% as against 0.42 MnT in Dec'19.
Bhushan steel total iron ore sourcing for the month stood at 0.36 MnT, down 11% against 0.40 MnT in Dec'19.

Tata Steel supplies have dropped by 13% for the month to 0.30 MnT as against 0.35 MnT a month ago.

State-owned miner- OMC supplied 52,356 MT iron ore to the steelmaker in Jan'20, up slightly as compared to 50,947 MT in Dec'19. Sourcing from KJS Ahluwalia mines recorded 20% drop to 560 MT. Sourcing from Serajuddin mines recorded nil for the past three months.

Few major miners have already made aggressive bookings in last month's as steel mills were actively restocking material ahead Mar'20 lease expiry. Also, few mines are heard to have achieved EC limits for this fiscal.

Bhushan Steel pellet sourcing down 20% in Jan'20

The pellet sourcing by the steelmaker recorded at 15,400 MT for the month of Jan'20, as against 19,250 MT a month ago.

Tata Steel BSL is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 MnT to 8.3 MnT. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.
