Base metals (aluminium, zinc, copper, lead) production data released recently shows that production of major metals (aluminium, lead and copper) has dropped m-o-m, while zinc has shown an improvement in productive volumes m-o-m.
Copper production falls slightly
The production of copper (ore and semi-finished) was at 316,000 t in September 2022, a marginal fall of 4,000 t on the month as against 320,000 t in the previous month.
Total production in January-September stood at 259,2125 t, SteelMint data shows.
Company-wise break up
Hindustan Copper Ltd. produced 268,000 t during the month, a decline of 4,000 t as against August, while Hindalco produced 35,000 t, a drop of 1,000 t m-o-m. Sesa Sterlite's production stood at 13,000 t, a decrease of 1,000 t m-o-m.
Zinc production rises marginally
The total volume of zinc production was recorded at 63,000 t, a marginal rise of 3% as against 61,000 t in August.
Total production in January-September stood at 606,000 t, SteelMint data reveals.
Aluminium production falls m-o-m
The production of aluminium was at 334,000 t in September, a marginal fall of 2.3% as against 342,000 t in the previous month.

Company-wise break up
Vedanta produced 142,000 t in September, a drop of 2.1 t as against August, while Hindalco produced 109,000 t, down 2.7% m-o-m. On the other hand, Balco's production was at 46,000 t, a decrease of 2.1% m-o-m. Nalco's production stood at 37,000 t in September, a decline of 2.3% as against 38,000 t in August.
Lead production falls slightly
Lead production in September was recorded at 16,000 t compared to 19,000 t in August. Total production in January-September stood at 158,000 t.
