India: Adani Enterprises Awarded Mine Developer & Operator for OMC's Kurmitar Iron Ore Mines

Adani Enterprise Ltd has been awarded Mine Developer & Operator (MDO) for Kurmitar iron ore mine owned by OMC Ltd. and has recently signed contract for the same, shared sources. Adani Enterprises will take over the place as MDO in Mar 2021 for 6 MnT of iron ore mine (EC Limit). The contract remains intact for 20 years or exhaustion of reserve whichever is later. The present MDO of Kurmitar mines is working for 2.4 MnT and after the period of existing mine operator shall be completed, Ms Adani will take over and substitute for 6 MnT pa.

OMC Ltd through MSTC portal floated tender for selection of MDO for Kurmitar iron ore mine. Techno-commercial bids and the original document were opened on 20th June'19 and 21st June'19. Four bidders technically qualified for opening of initial price offers were Adani Enterprise Ltd. (Gujarat), Essel Mining & Industries Ltd. (Kolkata) HIRA-Aurobindo (Bidding Consortium), Chhattisgarh , ARCL-SWML (Bidding Consortium), Mumbai.

OMC iron ore production for the month of Aug'19 recorded at 30,496 MT, as against 464,693 MT in July'19.

OMC is all set with iron ore production ramp-up plans for coming years to make up for expected supply disruption after March 2020 following lease expiry. OMC is planning to achieve 20 MnT iron ore output by FY21. EC limit at Daitari mines is proposed to be increased to 6 MnT p.a. from current EC of 3 MnT pa.
