Hyundai Steel to hold online conference on H-Solution in Dec '20

Hyundai Steel Co., South Korea's No. 2 steelmaker, will hold an online technical conference next month on automotive materials and other relevant technologies to introduce its automobile brand H-Solution and the technologies on future mobility next month.

The South Korean steelmaker is all set to hold four online conference sessions from Dec 2 - Dec 10 to promote Steel's technological prowess as it braces for an era of future mobility.

Hyundai Steel said it plans to unveil its strategy on future automotive materials to meet growing demand for all-electric cars, hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles and personal air vehicles.

Earlier this month, South Korea tested an unmanned air taxi service in Seoul as it seeks to commercialize a personal air vehicle, or a flying car, in major cities in 2025.

The conference also covers a wide-range of technical issues, such as ultra-high strength steel, hot stamping and welding technology.

On the first day of the conference, the steelmaker will discuss prospects for the materials used in producing electric and hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles. In addition, it will present its strategies to deal with personal air vehicles, or flying cars.

The conference session planned on Dec 9 will be about the welding technology the company has registered to be patented on tailor welded blank and hot stamping.

Tailor Welded Blanks (TWB) are made from individual sheets of steel of different thickness, strength and coating which are joined together by laser welding and hot stamping thereby, modifying the shape of steel heating at 950 degrees Celsius and then cooling it quickly.

Hyundai Steel seeks to promote its high-quality materials for cars, and also showcase to the clients the company's technologies and services that reflect the paradigm shifts in the automotive industry through this online conference.

Hyundai Steel had launched the automotive steel brand H-Solution in April 2019.
