Germany: Aluminium imports and exports rise m-o-m in Nov'22

Germany, a major consumer of aluminium in the European region, has released its imports and exports data for November, 2022.

Exports

Germany's exports stood at 374,029 t in November, a m-o-m increase of 19% compared with October shipments which were around 315,242 t. Out of total exports, ore/concentrates decreased by 6% to 26,456 t, finished products exports up by 39% to 207,982 t, semi-finished exports remained stable at 45,182 t, while scrap shipments increased by 3% to 94,410 t.

Exports fell by 3% to 374,029 t y-o-y in November compared to the same period last year. A total of 3.89 mnt was exported by the country in January-November this year.

Country-wise exports

• Exports to Austria decrease: Exports from Germany stood at 36,627 t in November, a decrease of 8% m-o-m as against 39,746 t in October. Export volumes decreased by 7% y-o-y from 39,596 t in November 2021.
  
  
• Exports to France edge up: Germany's exports to France were at 32,213 t in November, up 52% from 21,128 t in October. However, volumes also increased by 10% in November y-o-y compared with 29,333 t in the same period last year.
  
  

Imports scenario

Imports of aluminium were recorded at 735,751 tonnes (t) in November against 730,217 t in October, largely stable with a slight increase of 1% m-o-m. Out of total imports, ore/concentrates increased by 9% to 293,317 t, semi-finished products fell by 4% to 208,929 t, while finished product imports also fell marginally by 2% to 151,201 t followed by scrap imports, down by 6% to 82,303 t.

The country's aluminium imports increased by 3% y-o-y compared from 732,341 t in November, 2021. A total of 8.4 mnt was imported by the country in January-November 2022.

Country-wise imports

• • Exports from Guinea up m-o-m: Export volumes stood at 242,725 t in November , a rise of 33% m-o-m as against 182,757 t in October. Similarly, export volumes decreased marginally by 1% y-o-y from 244,346 t in November, 2021.
    
    
  • Exports from the Netherlands decrease m-o-m: The Netherlands, a major exporter to Germany, saw export volumes falling by 23% at 102,855 t in November, 2022 as against 134,004 t in the previous month. Shipments increased by 27% from 80,990 t in the same period in November, 2022.
