Coking Coal Imports in India Rise 14.04% in Mar'18 M-o-M

In Mar'18, Coking Coal imports in India stood at around 4.55 MnT, according to the data collected by CoalMint Research.

An analysis of the data shows that the imports during the month were around 14.04% higher than the imports of around 3.99 MnT in the previous month. The imports during the month under review had gone higher as the prices were declining.

On year-on-year comparison, the Mar'18 imports were also up by around 18.49% against the imports of around 3.84 MnT in Mar'17.

During FY18, around 53.02 MnT of Coking Coal was imported in India.

A break-up of the origins of imports shows that the imports from Australia constituted the highest in the share of the total imports, at around 72%; followed by the imports from USA, at around 13%.

Among the ports in the country, the Paradip port had handled the highest volume of import traffic during the month, followed by the Haldia and Dhamra ports.
