Casting a bird's eye-view on the coal shipments from Australia in 2017, it is observed that around 358.17 MnT of coal was shipped out during the year to 45 nations.
The month-wise shipments show that the highest volume of coal was at around 33.51 MnT, shipped in Dec'17--and the volume had reached the highest due to the aggressive imports in the major consuming nations in that month to stock their inventories ahead of the New Year holidays. In Apr'17, the shipment volume was at the lowest, at around 22.57 MnT.

Japan accounted for the highest volume of shipments during the year, at around 32.71% of the total volume; followed by China with 21.34%, India with 11.21% and South Korea with 10.83%.
