China's copper imports and exports in November 2022 increased m-o-m, as revealed data available to SteelMint.
Imports market overview
Imports of copper were recorded at 3.11 million tonnes (mnt) in November 2022 against 2.39 mnt in October, up by 30% m-o-m. Out of this, ore/concentrates increased by 29% to 2.41 mnt and semi-finished products by 38% to 0.51 mnt. Finished products imports were up by 15% to 34,392 t and scrap was up by 45% to 0.16 mnt.
The country's overall copper imports were up by 9% y-o-y compared to 27.82 mnt seen in January-November 2021. A total of 30.19 mnt was imported by the country in January-November 2022.
Country-wise imports
China's copper exports stood at 62,573 t in November 2022, an increase of 6% as compared to October's around 58,965 t. Finished products were up by 7% to 52,817 t, semi-finished products were up by 2% to 9,756 t while scrap exports were negligible. The country's copper exports were slightly up y-o-y to 0.86 mnt from January-November 2022 as compared to the same period last year which was around 0.85 mnt.
