China: Aluminium spot prices edge higher

The aluminium spot price in China increased by RMB 50/t reaching RMB 18,160/t. The average range for aluminium prices is typically between RMB 18,040/t and RMB 18,180/t. Premiums have fluctuated in the range of RMB 100-140/t.

Today, the eight central provinces in China witnessed a rise in prices across various sectors. Specifically, the aluminium index increased significantly in Gongyi and Foshan, reaching RMB 18,020/t and RMB 18,150/t, respectively, up RMB 70/t.

In Wuxi and Hangzhou, the aluminium spot price reached RMB 18,150/t, up RMB 50/t. Similarly, in Linyi, the aluminium price trend was bearish, with a gain of RMB 60/t, settling at RMB 18,220/t.

Shenyang witnessed continuous growth in aluminium prices which reached RMB 18,210/t, an increase of RMB 50/t. In Chongqing and Tianjin, aluminium spot prices increased by RMB 30/t, ultimately closing at RMB 18,160/t and RMB 18,210/t, respectively.

There has been a significant decline of 2.67% m-o-m in aluminium prices. Prices had reached RMB 19,110/t on 20 April but by 18 May declined to RMB 18,600/t. These were the highest figures recorded during the respective months.

The price of low-carbon aluminium in the domestic market, however, increased by RMB 70/t to close at RMB 18,743/t.

High-purity aluminium (99.99%) and high-purity aluminium (99.996%) both witnessed an increase of RMB 100/t, reaching RMB 25,900/t and RMB 26,900/t, respectively.

Meanwhile, the average spot price of alumina in China decreased by RMB 1/t, closing at RMB 2,861/t. In Shanxi province, the price of alumina dropped by RMB 5/t settling at RMB 2,855/t.

Aluminium alloys prices of A356 and A360 increased by RMB 50/t, reaching RMB 18,950/t and RMB 19,250/t, respectively. However, the price of aluminium alloy ADC12 remained unchanged at RMB 18,500/t, same as yesterday.
