China's aluminium imports rose m-o-m by 19% in August 2022 to 370,000 tonnes (t) as against 310,000 t in July.
The country's aluminium imports stood at 242,8282 t in January-August, up 21% as against 200,8182 t in the same period last year, as per SteelMint data.
Semi-finished aluminium imports rise: Imports of semi-finished aluminium were up 3% m-o-m at 158,629 t in August as against 154,021 t in July. Imports from Russia were the highest at 47,915 t followed by Malaysia at 40,839 t.
Finished aluminium imports edge down: Imports of finished aluminium products stood at 41,811 t in the period under review as against 43,147 t last month, down 3% m-o-m. The highest volumes were imported from South korea at 20,661 t in August, a rise of nearly 28% compared to about 16,000 t in July, followed by Japan at 10,300 t.
Aluminium scrap imports spike
Aluminium scrap imports were recorded at 170,748 t in August, a hike of 14% m-o-m compared to 149,851 t last month. The highest volumes were imported from Malaysia at 29,985 t, a rise of nearly 19% compared to 25,262 t in July, followed by the USA at 28,493 t.
Imports of ores/concentrate
Raw aluminium imports were recorded at 10.9 mnt in August, a rise of 20% as against 9.05 mnt in the previous month, SteelMint data shows.
