Central India: Prakash Industries Ltd Ramps Up Steel Melting Capacity

Prakash Industries Ltd - one of the largest steel producer in central India, has further expanded it melting capacities with commissioning 4 of new energy efficient induction furnaces.

With this latest expansion the company's melting capacities has been increased to 1.176 MnT per annum, as per company's press release.

The sources close to this matter reported that, the new 4 furnaces installed have capacities of 150-200 MT per day, equivalent to 50,000-60,000 MT pa.

In line with this, the company on 17th Oct'19, announced comissioning of 6th sponge rotary kiln having sponge iron capacity of around 2,00,000 MT pa.

As per market sources, the company largely sells wire rod in the merchant market, while remaining of products (Sponge iron & Billets) are mostly used for captive consumption.

The producer has about 4 rolling mills which has total installed capacity of over 1 MnT per annum for wire rod/rebar.

Prakash Industries Limited is also into production Power, Steel and PVC Pipe. The company's plants are located in Champa, District Janjgir-Champa, and Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
