Canada Iron Ore Exports Up 20% in July'19

Canada iron ore exports recorded at 5.03 MnT, up 20% as against 4.2 MnT in June'19. On yearly basis, exports increased marginally as compared to 4.84 MnT in July'18.
Netherland stood largest importer for the month at 0.77 MnT, up as againgts 0.26 MnT in June'19. France stood second largest importer at 0.61 MnT followed by China at 0.53 MnT. Imports by Chinese mills fell by 47% amid reduced demand and easing supplies from Brazil and Australia.
Canadian Coal exports down 13% M-o-M
Canadian coal exports have fallen 13% on the month during Jul'19, however, coal volumes were boosted by higher intake from major customers-China and Japan. Data provided by customs indicates that coal exported from the country had fell to 3.14 MnT in Jul'19 as against 3.61 MnT in Jun'19, but were marked 22% higher on the year from 2.58 MnT in Jul'18.
China remained the largest coal importer from Canada in Jul'19, with monthly intake rising to its highest total for CY19. Chinese imports increased 9% M-o-M to 0.75 MnT, which were also marked 70% higher on the year from 0.44 MnT in Jul'18. While Japan was the second-largest import with receipt of 0.66 MnT coal in Jul'19.Coal shipments delivered to India recorded a 5-month low total of 0.31 MnT during Jul'19, as seasonal slowdown had limited the country's appetite for steel-making coal.
Canada scrap exports up 37% on monthly basis
Canada scrap exports showed a considerable increase in July'19 as it exported 0.52 MnT in July'19, up by 37 % M-o-M as against 0.38 MnT in June'19. On yearly premises, scrap exports increased by 10% Y-o-Y as against 0.47 MnT ferrous scrap recorded in July'18.
United States remained the largest importer with 15% share in total Canada scrap exports, as it exported 0.27 MnT in July'19 as against 0.24 MnT in June'19, up 13 % M-o-M. Other top scrap importers were Turkey (0.19MnT) Taiwan (0.02 MnT, up by 100% M-o-M) & Bangladesh (0.02MnT, up by 100% M-o-M) with 65%, 25% & 40% share respectively. While India, another major importer observed unchanged volume 0.01 MnT scrap imported from Canada in July'19.
