Brazilian Billet Exports Fall 27% in Feb'18

In the second month of 2018, Brazilian billet exports were recorded at 520,000 MT, recent released data by Brazilian customs reported.

The nation's billet export have decline by 27% M-o-M against 710,000 MT in Jan'18. Similarly, on Y-o-Y in Feb'18 exports registered a fall of 20% against 650,000 MT in Feb'17.

In the first two months of CY18 (Jan & Feb), the data shows about 1.23 MnT billet exports, fall by 8.88% against 1.35 MnT in the same preceding CY17. Further, on yearly calculation the billet exports were reported around 7.66 MnT in CY17 & at 6.25 MnT in CY16.

Country wise:

During February 2018, United States has imported approximately 42% (0.22 MnT) billets from Brazil. Inline the other largest importers of Brazilian originated billet was Turkey, Germany, Mexico & Argentina.

Further it was noticed that, billet export to US from brazil decline by 29% in February against 0.31 MnT in January. And no major volume of billet imports from South Korea, whose imports from the nation was stood at 0.05 MnT in Jan'18.

-- In the total billet exports during Jan-Feb'18, the most favorable export destination of Brazilian billet was - United States (0.53 MnT), Turkey (0.15 MnT), Germany (0.12 MnT) & Dominican Republic (0.06 MnT).

-- In the month, the major export of Billets were from the ports of Nao Declarado (0.19), Rio De Janeiro (0.17 MnT) & Vitoria (0.16 MnT). While approximately 35% of exports were done from the port of Vitoria till Feb'18.

-- Presently, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 515-525/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 540-550/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 545-555/MT FoB China.
