Brazil Steel Exports Statistics - June 2019

Brazil, the world's second-largest Semi finished exporter, has exported about 710,091 MT Semi finished (Slab & Pig iron) in Jun'19, decline by 9.2% M-o-M, as per custom data maintained by SteelMint.
In the month of May'19, the crude steel production of Brazil was around 2,750,671 MT and in CY19 (Jan-May) it was approximately 14,027,275 MT.
Brazil has recorded iron ore export volumes at 29,397,780 MT in June'19, down slightly as compared to May'19 exports at 29,828,122 MT, according to trade statistics released by Brazil customs. On yearly basis, exports dropped 16.8% as against 35,314,720 MT in June'19. Brazil iron ore exports fell amid supply concerns from largest iron ore miner Vale.
The total exports for CY19 (Jan-June) has depicted 12% drop to 161.84 MnT as against 184.35 MnT in CY18 (Jan-June).
Brazil's pig iron exports increased by about 29.7% M-o-M in Jun'19 & reported at around 252,689 MT against the last month (May'19) at 194,834 MT.
Inline on yearly premises the exports registered a sharp rise of 140.6% in Jun'19 against 105,021 MT in Jun'18.
During Jun'19, the most favourable export destination of Brazilian pig iron was - Taiwan (99,000 MT), Netherlands (71,030 MT) & Uruguay (31,875 MT).
In Jan-Jun'19, the Nation's pig iron exports were recorded at 1,233,736 MT, which was 874,236 MT during same the period of CY18, inclines by 41.12% Y-o-Y, as per SteelMint Stats.
As per our last assessment, the global export prices for basic grade Pig iron is assessed at USD 312-314/MT FoB Brazil & USD 345-355/MT FoB India.
Brazil has exported about 457,402 MT slab in Jun'19, declined by 22.2% M-o-M as against 587,597 MT in May'19. Inline on yearly premises it decrease by 43.9% as against 815,241 MT in Jun'18.
During Jun'19, United States has imported approximately 72.5% (331,667 MT) slab, rise by 3.5% M-o-M against 343,557 MT in May'19. Inline, Mexico has imported 49,420 MT Slab in the month.
In Jun'19, the major export of Slabs were from the ports of Itaguai (164,115 MT), Fortaleza Porto (155,851 MT) & Vitoria (136,281 MT). While approximately 41.23% of exports were done from the port of Vitoria in Jun'19.
In the total slab exports during CY19 (Jan-Jun), the most favorable export destination of Brazilian slab was - United States (2,323,113 MT), Mexico (240,263 MT), Italy (191,469 MT), Dominican Republic (149,127 MT), Czech Republic (109,164 MT) & Germany (107,542 MT).
The export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 420-425/MT FoB India, 150*150 Q235 are at USD 480-490/MT FoB China & 125*125 3sp at USD 420-430/MT FoB Ukraine.
Brazilian Manganese Ore exports remained stable in Jun'19 as compared to the previous month. However, it is marginally lower as compared to the previous year same period by 0.02 MnT. Exports in the month of June remained at 0.2 MnT. China, India and Norway remained the largest importers for Brazil with 0.16 MnT, 0.02 MnT and 0.02 MnT quantities respectively.
