Brazil Slab Exports Fall in November 2018

Brazil - world's 2nd-largest Semi finished steel exporter, has exported about 641,097 MT slab in November 2018, recent released data by Brazilian customs reported.

In the month of Nov'18, the exports have declined by 38.97% M-o-M after recorded all time high in Oct'18 with 1,050,542 MT slab. While on yearly premises it remains firm as against 639,531 MT in Nov'17.

In the total slab exports during CY18 (Jan-Nov), the most favorable export destination of Brazilian slab was - United States (3,511,339 MT), Turkey (457,620 MT), Canada (385,245 MT) & Dominican Republic (358,929 MT).

Country-wise Brazil slab exports - During Nov'18, United States has imported approximately 48% (307,463 MT) slab, decline by 58% M-o-M against 727,406 MT in Oct'18. And the other largest importer of Brazil originated slab was Canada (88,400 MT) & South Korea (66,964 MT). Further it was also come in line that, no major slab exports to Turkey, Germany & Mexico was seen in Nov'18 as against Oct'18.

-- In the month of Oct'18, the crude steel production of Brazil was around 3.14 MnT and in CY18 (Jan-Oct) it was approximately 29.07 MnT. Meanwhile, in CY17 (Jan-Oct) the figure of crude steel production stood at 28.55 MnT, according to the World Steel Association.

-- Brazil Iron ore & pellet export decline by 8.69% M-o-M in Nov'18 & stood at 33,966,533 MT as against 37,199,596 MT in Oct'18.

-- As per our last assessment, the current export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet were at USD 435-445/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 425-435/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 430-435/MT FoB China.
