Brazil Pig Iron Exports Hit 5-Month High in October

Brazil's pig iron exports increased by about 7% M-o-M in Oct'18, according to trade statistics released by Brazilian customs.

In the month of Oct'18, Pig iron exports from Brazil were reported around 200,223 MT, which was recorded 5 months high, and rise continuously since May'18.

In Oct'18, Netherlands imports the largest volume of Brazilian pig iron, has imported around 69,517 MT, followed by United States (46,052 MT) & Taiwan (21,650 MT). While a month ago United States pig iron imports from the nation stood at 93,804 MT.

Further it was also come in line that, in the last month no major Brazilian pig iron exports were recorded for Netherlands, Spain & Austria. While in Oct'18 the pig iron export to the nations stood at 69,517 MT, 15,024 MT & 15,000 MT respectively.

While in the calendar year of 2018 (Jan-Oct) the Brazil's pig iron exports decline by about 19% and are stood at 1,526,262 MT which was 1,895,114 MT during the same period in 2017.

United States was the primary destination of Brazilian Pig iron and recorded at 489,677 MT in the calendar year of 2018 (Jan-Oct), inline - Netherlands (301,322 MT), Italy (162,905 MT), Mexico (161,528 MT) & Taiwan (135,372 MT). And the major export of pig iron were from the ports of Rio De Janeiro (661,590 MT), Vitoria (501,503 MT) & Sao Luis (226,405 MT).

Currently global export prices for basic grade pig Iron is assessed at USD 345-355/MT FoB Brazil & USD 365-375/MT FoB India.
