Brazil: Pellets exports up 16% m-o-m in May'22

Brazil's pellets exports were recorded at 2.15 million tonnes (mnt) in May 2022, moved up by 16% m-o-m as against 1.85 mnt in April 2022, according to vessel line-up data maintained with SteelMint.

On a yearly basis, pellet exports increased sharply by 52% as compared to 1.41 mnt in CPLY. In addition, cumulative pellet export volumes were recorded at 7.87 mnt in January-May 2022, also up by 18% y-o-y.

Country-wise importers

Argentina was the largest importer of pellets from Brazil at 0.26 mnt in May, up 63% m-o-m.

Egypt occupied the second position among the top importers' list at 0.17 mnt followed by Japan at 0.13 mnt. Brazil's pellet exports to Japan decreased in May versus April.
