Brazil: Manganese Ore Exports Down by 50% M-o-M in Sep'17

According to the Brazilian customs, the country has witnessed a massive decrease of about 50% M-o-M in its Manganese Ore exports.
Brazilian Manganese Ore export in Sep'17 was at 0.12 MnT against 0.24 MnT in Aug'17. However, on yearly basis, Brazilian Manganese Ore exports reflected an increase of about 33% as it was 0.09 MnT in Sep'16.
China's Appetite for Manganese Ore
China stands out to be the largest importer of Brazilian manganese ore, importing 0.08 MnT in Sep'17, followed by Uruguay at 0.04 MnT - the only two countries that imported Manganese Ore from Brazil in Sep'17. China imported more than 60% of the total Manganese Ore exported by Brazil. Moreover, in Sep'17 China witnessed a substantial M-o-M decrease of around 47% in its Manganese Ore imports from Brazil.
Global Manganese Ore Scenario
There is dull demand from China for Manganese Ore as steelmakers there are looking at production cuts. And in line with that, some Manganese Alloys producers are likely to reduce their production or temporarily shut down when environment inspections start. Already Chinese alloy prices have started showing a slight fall.
