Brazil Billet Exports Decline 24% in March

In the last month of FY18, Brazilian billet exports were recorded at 570,524 MT, recent released data by Brazilian customs reported.

The nation's billet export have decline by 24.31% Y-o-Y against 753,842 MT in Mar'17. In contrary, on M-o-M in Mar'18 exports registered a gain of 9.48% against 521,084 MT in Feb'18.

Coming to total exports, in the first three months of CY18 (Jan-Mar), the data shows about 1,803,308 MT billet exports, fall by 14.24% against 2,102,760 MT in the same preceding CY17. Further, on yearly calculation the billet exports were reported around 7,660,334 MT in CY17 & at 6,247,093 MT in CY16.

Country wise:

USA stands out to be the largest importer of Brazilian billet, importing 219,941 MT in Mar'18, followed by Turkey (90,001 MT), Canada (57,513 MT), Dominican Republic (56,564 MT) Germany (46,996 MT) & Belgium (25,032 MT).

Further in the month of Mar'18, the billet exports by the nation to USA decline by around 1% on monthly basis against 221,934 MT in Feb'17. While, in Mar'18 USA witnessed an imports of around 38% Brazilian billet.

-- In the total billet exports during Jan-Mar'18, the most favourable export destination of Brazilian billet was - United States (41.57%), Turkey (13.09%), Germany (9.12%) & Dominican Republic (6.47%).

-- In the month, the major export of Billets were from the ports of Vitoria (272,257 MT), Rio De Janeiro (149,247 MT) & Nao Declarado (147,718 MT). While approximately 40% of exports were done from the port of Vitoria till Mar'18.

-- Presently, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 505-510/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 510-520/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 515-525/MT FoB China.
