Sponge iron prices in India decreased by INR 100-200/tonne (t) across various regions. PDRI prices closed at a range of INR 23,200-26,350/t while CDRI prices were assessed at INR 25,750-30,000/t. About 3,000 t of sponge iron deals were recorded 8 August compared to 9,475 t on 7 August.

BigMint's domestic end-cutting scrap index tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market fell by INR 400/tonne (t) to INR 36,900/t DAP on 8 August, 2024.

BigMint's billet index dropped by INR 150/t due to limited buying activity, reaching INR 38,400/tonne exw-Raipur on 8 August, 2024.
