India's sponge iron market witnessed a rise in prices ranging from INR 100-600/t in all major locations. PDRI market prices closed at a range of INR 26,750-28,750/t and CDRI prices at INR 27,800-33,000/t. About 22,870 t of sponge iron transactions were recorded in the country on 4 April compared to 20,100 t on 3 April.

Domestic low-grade iron ore fines (Fe 57%) prices continued its downtrend this week in Karnataka's Bellary. BigMint's weekly index for low-grade iron ore fines (Fe 57%) stood at INR 3,050/t ($37/t) ex-mines Bellary (excluding taxes), a w-o-w fall of INR 150/t ($2/t).

BigMint's data for 4 April, 2024 revealed a rise of INR 700/t in the domestic steel scrap index (end-cutting) in Mandi Gobindgarh, reaching INR 39,700/t on a delivered-at-plant (DAP) basis.
