BigMint's billet index inched down by INR 100/t to INR 39,700/t exw-Raipur on 29 January, 2024. About 2,600 t of transactions were recorded on 29 January as against 1,500 t on 27 January.

Sponge iron prices in some key locations in India decreased by INR 50-200/t on 29 January, 2024. However, sponge iron prices in Jharsuguda and in the southern region rose slightly by INR 50-150/t. About 18,220 t of sponge iron transactions were recorded in the country on 29 January compared to 15,510 t on 27 January.

BigMint's domestic steel scrap (end-cutting) index remained stable at INR 37,500/t DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 29 January, 2024.
