Indian sponge iron prices showed mixed trends, with prices increasing in Ramgarh and Durgapur by INR 150/t and INR 200/t. PDRI prices closed at INR 23,500-26,500/t and CDRI prices at INR 26,000-30,000/t. Approximately 9,200 tonnes (t) of sponge iron transactions were recorded in the country on 29 August compared to 6,200 t on 28 August.

BigMint's domestic end-cutting scrap index tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market remained steady at INR 37,000/t DAP on 29 August, 2024.

BigMint's billet index remained stable at INR 38,300/tonne (t) exw-Raipur on 29 August 2024. On the other hand, the conversion spread from sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for standalone furnaces in the Raipur region was recorded at INR 13,600/t.
