BigMint's billet index increased by INR 100/tonne (t), reaching INR 38,400/t exw-Raipur on 12 August 2024. Approximately 1,500 t of deals were recorded on 12 August, compared to 1,700 t on 9 August.

BigMint's domestic end-cutting scrap index for the Mandi Gobindgarh market rose by INR 300/t to INR 36,900/t DAP on 12 August 2024.

Sponge iron prices in India increased by INR 50-300/tonne (t) across various markets. Prices in the PDRI market closed within a range of INR 23,200-26,300/t, while CDRI prices ranged from INR 25,900-29,800/t. Approximately 11,250 t of sponge iron transactions were recorded nationwide on 12 August, compared to 6,500 t on 9 August.
