Bangladesh Importers Book 20,000 MT HRC from Chinese Mills

Imported HRC offers to Bangladesh have remained largely stable this week. Recently market sources shared with SteelMint that Bangladesh steel mills have concluded a deal of around 20,000 MT HRC (2 mm) from China for June shipment. The deal price is heard around at USD 650/MT,CFR Chittgong. The price assessed this week is similar to that of previous assesment made by SteelMint.

Major mills in China are offering HRC at around USD 605/MT FoB China. Few offers from other Chinese mills were heard around USD 650-655/MT CFR Chittagong. Offers remained unchanged since past two weeks.

Bangladesh bulk steel coil imports in Apr'18 - According to vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint, bulk steel coil imports to Bangladesh stood at 46,080 MT in Apr'18 witnessing decline of 45% on monthly basis against 83,465 MT in Mar'18. Entire quantity of bulk steel coil imported to Bangladesh in the month of Apr'18 were from Japan.

Meanwhile bulk steel coil imports from Bangladesh stood at 424,863 MT so far in FY18 (till Jan'18). In FY17, Bangladesh imported around 1 MnT steel coil via bulk imports, up by 6% Y-o-Y.
