Bangladesh: Bulk Ferrous Scrap Imports Up by 79% M-o-M in Feb'20

Bangladesh's bulk ferrous scrap imports witnessed a sharp increase by 79% on a monthly basis. The country imported a total of 1,66,970 MT of scrap in Feb'20 as against 93,190 MT of imported in Jan'20, as per vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint.
On yearly premises too, the imports shoot up by around 465% Y-o-Y in Feb'20, as against 29,550 MT of scrap in Feb'19. A total of 7 bulk vessels arrived at birth in Feb'20.
Japan supplied 4 vessels carrying 71,317 MT of bulk ferrous scrap in Feb'20, with 43% of share in total scrap imported by Bangladesh in Feb'20. Followed by other prominent suppliers- USA with 2 vessels and Korea with 1 vessel, carrying 61,084 MT (37% share) and 34,569 MT (21% share) respectively.
Coal: Coal imports to Bangladesh observed a decrease by 84 % M-o-M to 1,59,800 MT in Feb'20 as compared to 9,95,406 MT imported in Jan'20. This is the lowest coal imports registered since Aug'19.
Indonesia remained the largest coal supplier to Bangladesh with two vessels carrying 1,10,000 MT bulk coal in Feb'20 with a 69% share. Followed by the Netherlands with one vessel carrying 49,800 MT with a 31% share.
Steel Coils: Bulk imports of steel coils witnessed an increase in Feb'20 as the country imported 82,845 MT, up by 13% M-o-M as against 73,007 MT imported in Jan'20. All the coils supplied by Japan.
Imports of Pig Iron and HBI to Bangladesh reported nil volume in Feb'20.
