Bahrain Iron Ore Import & Pellet Exports Down Sharply in Apr'20

Bahrain iron ore and pellet exports in Apr'20 recorded at 0.44 MnT, down 48% as against 0.85 MnT in Mar'20. On yearly basis, exports dropped 51% as compared to 0.9 MnT in Apr'19.

-- Saudi Arabia stood largest importer of iron ore and pellet for Apr'20 at 0.17 MnT, down 51% as against 0.35 MnT in Mar'20.

-- Oman stood second largest importer at 0.16 MnT, recording a decline of 20% against 0.2 MnT in last month (Mar'20).

-- Bahrain Steel - wholly owned company of Foulath Holding, has signed a 20 year agreement with Anglo American Marketing Limited for pellet supply for its plant in Hidd region. As per the reports, demand for iron ore pellet is increasing majorly in Mena region with the expected demand to reach 46 MnT by 2027. The contract will be a step ahead for the company to deliver quality product customers in the MENA region and beyond, relying on Bahrain Steel for their supply of DR pellets.

Bahrain Iron Ore Imports Down 42% in Apr'20

Bahrain iron ore and pellet imports in Apr'20 depicted 42% fall on monthly basis to 0.63 MnT, as against 1.09 MnT in Mar'20. The imports dropped 55% on yearly basis as against 1.4 MnT imports in Apr'19. Brazil stood the largest exporter of iron ore to Bahrain for the month at 0.47 MnT (down 39% M-o-M).
