Australia's Iron ore Export to India Increase Significantly Jan-Apr'18

Australia - world's largest iron ore exporter has recorded a marginal increase in export shipments in Apr'18. Australian iron ore exports at 72.05 MnT, up 2% M-o-M against 70.56 MnT in Mar'18. China holds 83% share of iron ore import from Australia. Last month has witnessed the most volatility in iron ore market and inventory replenishment at dockside in China.
However, on yearly basis, the Australian iron ore exports marked increase by 7% against 67.56 MnT in Apr'17.
In the last four months (Jan-Apr'18) Australia's iron ore export shipments witnessed an increase of 5% to 278 MnT compared to 266 MnT in the same period last year.
India's Iron ore Imports from Australia increase in Jan-Apr'18-:
India imported 1.94 MnT iron ore during Jan-Apr'18 compared to nil imports in the same time period last year. It has surpassed Indonesia which was 5th in the list of iron ore importers from Australia last year.
India's JSW Steel has significantly raised its imports from Australia in last few months.
China turned out to be the largest importer of Australian iron ore at 59.63 MnT, in Apr'18 up 5% against 56.97MnT in Mar'18. Japan stood the second largest importer down 22% to 5.19MnT in Apr'18 against 6.63MnT in Mar'18. Other importers were Korea 4.47 MnT (Down 2%), Taiwan 1.36MnT (Up 4%) and India 0.54MnT (Down 28%).

Port Headland iron ore exports Drop Marginally In Apr'18
In Apr'18, Port Headland marked the largest exporter at 41.83 MnT, decline marginally M-o-M as compared to 41.9MnT in Mar'18, followed by Walcott at 15.65MnT (no change from the previous month) and Dampier at 12.42MnT (Up 11%).
